Business Days Calculator
Count working days in a date range using your workweek — not a pay or hours calculator.
Ready when you Calculate
Enter a date range and press Calculate to see business days.
How it works
A business days calculator counts calendar working days in an inclusive date range. Enter start and end dates, choose which weekdays count (default Monday–Friday), then Calculate. Both endpoints count when they fall on a selected workday.
Dates are calendar days only (no clock times). Click days on the holiday calendar to mark non-working dates; marked holidays in your range are excluded. This tool does not estimate pay or clock hours — use Work Hours for that.
Quick steps
- Enter the start date and end date (inclusive).
- Confirm which weekdays count (default Monday–Friday).
- Optionally mark holiday dates on the calendar to exclude them.
- Press Calculate for the working-day count.
- Use Work Hours if you need clock time or pay instead of day counts.
When to use this tool
Use Business Days for calendar working-day counts between dates — SLAs, notice periods, delivery windows, or project buffers. It is not a substitute for Work Hours, Time Card, or pay tools — those estimate time and money, not weekday spans.
Holiday exclusion is manual on purpose: you mark the dates that should drop out of the count. The tool does not ship a statutory holiday calendar or decide premium pay for those dates.
Worked example
Monday Jan 05, 2026 through Friday Jan 09, 2026 with a Mon–Fri workweek → 5 business days. The same range with a weekend-only workweek → 0.
Methodology & assumptions
Count = number of calendar days from start through end (inclusive) whose weekday is in your workweek mask and that you have not marked as holidays. End-before-start is an error, not an auto-swap. No pay or labor-law holiday treatment. See calculation methodology.
FAQ
- Are weekends excluded?
- With the default Monday–Friday workweek, Saturday and Sunday are excluded. Change the workweek if your schedule differs.
- Does this exclude public holidays?
- Yes when you mark those dates on the holiday calendar. You choose which days to exclude. Marked dates are dates only, not pay rules.
- Is this the same as Work Hours?
- No. Work Hours estimates clock time and pay rules. This tool only counts calendar business days in a range.
