Ready when you Calculate

Enter Monday and pay settings, then Calculate. Expand the week above if other days differ.

How it works

A work hours calculator builds a weekly schedule of start/end clock times, subtracts unpaid breaks, and rolls the week into regular versus overtime buckets with an optional gross estimate — for planning, not legal compliance. Seed Monday’s times and pay settings, then Calculate; expand other weekdays only when they differ from Monday.

Simple mode keeps light defaults. Custom mode exposes the daily and weekly overtime cutoffs you want to model. Split shifts are extra in/out pairs on the same weekday. Everything runs locally; share URLs keep display settings, not the schedule you typed.

Quick steps

  1. Enter Monday clock-in, clock-out, and unpaid break minutes.
  2. Copy or edit other weekdays when your schedule differs.
  3. Add a second in/out row on any day for split shifts.
  4. Set hourly rate and currency; choose Simple or Custom OT thresholds.
  5. Press Calculate for regular hours, OT hours, and estimated gross pay.

When to use this tool

Choose Work Hours for a repeating weekly timetable (same days each week). Switch to Time Card when shifts are stamped with calendar dates inside a pay window, Timesheet when you already track decimal hours in weekday columns, or Overtime when you only have one known total to split.

Worked example

Monday 09:00–17:00 with a 60-minute unpaid break at $25/hour yields 7 worked hours and an estimated gross of $175 before overtime. Copy that pattern across Mon–Fri for a 35-hour week ($875) when no OT thresholds are crossed; raise weekly hours above your weekly threshold to see OT hours and pay split in results.

Methodology & assumptions

Per weekday, worked minutes come from each start/end interval minus break minutes, then the week is allocated with Simple defaults or the daily/weekly cutoffs you set in Custom — there is no jurisdiction-preset picker. Money shown is rate × allocated hours before tax. A reverse clock pair on a day wraps past midnight onto that day’s start. See the shared calculation methodology for the full family of formulas.

FAQ

How do multi-shift or overnight days work?
Add multiple in/out rows on a day when you work split shifts. If clock out is earlier than clock in on a row, worked time wraps past midnight and counts toward that row’s start day — same overnight policy as the shared time engine.
What is included in a share link?
Share links include display settings only (mode, currency, locale, time format) — not your entered hours, schedule, Custom thresholds, or pay results.
Is this legal or FLSA advice?
No. Results are estimates for planning from your configurable thresholds and rates. Verify with your employer or counsel; this is not a compliance engine.
